Background
I am a life long resident of Oshkosh
graduating from Oshkosh West and from the
University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor’s
Degree in History and Policitcal Science.
I am very active in the community. I am
member of the Winnebago County Board of Supervisors-serving
on two committees, member of the Oshkosh
Softball Commission, and member of the Oshkosh
Transit Authority, member of the League of
Women Voters of Oshkosh, and member and officer on
Advocap Board of Directors.
Reason for Running
The reasons I feel best qualify me for the Oshkosh
City Council, for which I ask for your vote this spring,
are my experience and my dedication to important issues
facing the city of Oshkosh in the upcoming years.
I am lifelong resident of Oshkosh graduating from UW-Oshkosh
in 1988. My experience consists of being a member of
the Winnebago County Board which I currently serve on
since 2000. This best helps me as I will enter the City
Council with a very good knowledge of what issues this
city will face within the next 2 years.
A pressing issue that faces this city now and
for years to come is the issue of jobs and economic growth
for the City of Oshkosh. Yes, the budget for the next
number of years will be tight considering that the state
legislature may impose a property tax freeze or cut back
on the amount of dollars the city receives for shared
revenue. However, we need a city council that will
find ways to make the city more business friendly by
making it more attractive to new businesses and keeping
the business already here in the city growing. I have
looked at how current businesses in Oshkosh and perspective
new businesses could take advantage of tools, like the
Winnebago County's Industrial Development Board. This
could make funds available to expand, create, or sustain
good paying jobs staying in the city of Oshkosh.
Expanding the job, economical, and salary growth for
the residents of Oshkosh will result in the best
recreation program, downtown redevelopment program, street
program, and any program for the city of Oshkosh
is involved in. This is what I will keep my focus on
for the next two years.
